在设计新的电子电路时,设计工程师通常需要考虑晶体或振荡器是否是合适的选择:有多少空间?频率稳定性的要求是什么?费用是多少用于组件和开发电路的这一部分?通过无源晶体和分立元件构建自己的振荡电路对于更大的数量或如果IC不使用内部振荡器。可以选择Pierce或Colpitts振荡器。此外,还可以创建振荡器通过反相器电路的适当反馈(图2)。
大多数微控制器已经包含了时钟电路的基本组件。为了完成电路对于Pierce或Colpitts振荡器类型,只需要一个晶体和其他外部无源元件。应用微控制器的手册描述了必要的细节。为了最大限度地减少任何寄生效应,所有连接从微控制器到晶体电路应保持尽可能短。
在40MHz及以上的频率下,使用泛音晶体。这些泛音晶体需要一个特殊的过滤器电路,以便抑制基本模式。滤波电路由电容器和电感组成。如果过滤器省略,电路以其基本模式振荡(例如:预期48MHz的第三泛音晶体,电路以16MHz振荡)。带有泛音晶体的振荡器电路应该非常谨慎地进行尺寸和测试。

我们都可以设计一个正常工作的振荡器,但要在所有元件的容差范围内设计一个能在生产中正常工作的振荡器,却需要一点努力。典型的瑞萨微控制器用户手册将提供一个或多个典型的振荡器电路(通常由示例中使用的晶体或陶瓷谐振器的供应商推荐给瑞萨),以及等效振荡器电路的简单规格。
可靠振荡所需的确切电路可能因OSC振荡器而异,也可能受到电路板布局和环境条件的影响。在任何情况下,我们都强烈建议设计人员联系所选的振荡器供应商,向他们询问适合其设计的推荐电路,并自行测试振荡器,以确定所需的振荡器电路参数。
对于许多应用,陶瓷谐振器可以提供良好的低成本解决方案;然而,如果需要更高的稳定性和更精确的定时,晶体提供了最佳的解决方案。然而,在低功率应用中,Q值较高的晶体启动时间要慢得多。事实上,频率越低,启动时间越长;一个32千赫的晶体可能需要1 - 3秒启动。
在许多微控制器中,需要仔细考虑晶体漂移和稳定性的影响,尤其是对于需要时钟功能的应用;然而,振荡器性能的知识可以允许在软件中进行校正。
内部反相器的输出通过外部有源晶振电路反馈到其输入端,形成一个不稳定的反馈环路。当振荡器的输出延迟足以提供360°相位延迟时,稳定的振荡得以持续。晶体与负载电容C1和C2一起提供了一个调谐电路,可以稳定振荡频率
Rf反馈电阻器-这在第一个逆变器周围提供负反馈,并确保逆变器工作在其线性区域。这在晶体振荡器中很少需要,但在使用陶瓷谐振器时经常需要,以确保振荡器正确启动。建议典型值在1MOhm范围内。一些瑞萨微控制器有内部反馈电阻。

在当今世界,快速流畅的数据传输至关重要。网络和服务器系统被设计成以闪电般的速度处理和转发信息。为了实现这一点,许多应用依赖于三位数兆赫兹(MHz)范围内的频率。
